The second concert of Artaria String Quartet's season shows off an early quartet by Ludwig van Beethoven, when he was still rather new to Vienna, the Op. 18 #2. There are 2 other quartets by Viennese composers, but written about 175 years later - one by Anton Webern, the other by Gyorgy Ligeti. Two wholly different sound worlds on the same program. Artaria has added a new work to the program by Canadian composer Frank Horvat. It's a tribute to those who died trying, people who lost their lives around the world in the pursuit of human rights. It's a global project - the piece itself is 35 movements long, of which Artaria will perform 5.
